Undergraduate Student Advising

At DePaul CDM, we understand that undergraduate students have special academic and personal concerns. The Academic Success Office is here to assist undergraduate students make educated decisions that will help them make the most of their time at CDM.

As students begin their academic careers at CDM, it is important for them to begin to establish relationships with their advisors as early as possible. Advisors can help students clarify their educational objectives, guide them as they match their objectives with the most appropriate degree plans and courses, and assist them in establishing realistic academic and career goals. Establishing personal relationships with advisors is a proven academic success indicator, and so we encourage undergraduate students to make regular appointments with their faculty advisors to discuss academic and career goals.

While we recognize that undergraduate students at DePaul often utilize many "advisors" on campus, CDM students should be certain to establish strong relationships with their assigned faculty advisor and with the professional advising staff in the CDM Academic Success Center.

Faculty advisors in CDM are the primary academic advisors for all CDM students. Each CDM student is assigned to a full-time CDM faculty member whose teaching area matches the student's major.

Professional advisors in the CDM Academic Success Center are another resource available to all CDM students. These advisors assist students in their utilization of CDM and other university resources and they monitor students' degree progress throughout their academic careers in CDM.

Meeting with an advisor at CDM is easy! Simply login to MyCDM and use the online appointment system to schedule an appointment. Students may also connect the Academic Success Center for assistance in making an appointment. While emailing advisors directly is certainly an option, we strongly encourage students to schedule face-to-face appointments whenever possible.
