Position Title: Network Operations Center Technician

Background/Work Experience Required:
 
To be considered, candidates should have:
 
- A minimum of 3 years experience in the telecommunications industry with basic switch maintenance.
- Associates degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Demonstrate strong PC and UNIX OS and application skills
- Fundamental knowledge of basic networking principles including
   - Basic understanding of TCP/IP
   - IP subnetting
   - VLANs
   - Ethernet
   - Basic routing and switching
- Knowledge of troubleshooting, installation and maintenance of TDM facilities
- Familiar with SS7 protocol, testing and troubleshooting
- Strong problem solving and analytic skills
- Be able to work in a geographically dispersed team environment
- Ensure all support documentation is kept current
- Provide on-call support (if required).
- Perform other job related duties as assigned
- Sonus soft switch experience is preferred.
- CCNA certification is preferred.

 Responsibilities and Duties:
The NOC (Network Operations Center) Technician will be responsible for providing 24x7 monitoring of all components of Neutral Tandem’s network utilizing various network monitoring systems and direct access to switches, DACS, routers and other network elements. Technicians are alerted to and must act upon any alarm conditions.
 
- The NOC manages trouble tickets in the TaSC database
- NOC Technicians are responsible for following Standard Operating Procedures in order to perform routine network changes, migrations, and maintenance in various network elements upon management request
- NOC technician must be able to identify, troubleshoot, and solve network related issues and problems efficiently utilizing monitoring tools, reference materials, and other team members for guidance
- Open trouble tickets and follow up on network/customer issues per Inteliquent procedures
- Coordinate testing with customers on customer trouble tickets
- Foster an environment of knowledge sharing within the NOC and all Inteliquent personnel
- Interface positively with peers, other department, carriers and customers to identify operational issues and provide efficient corrective actions
- Ensure that all paperwork such as customer, internal and maintenance tickets are completed accurately and in a timely fashion
- Accept On-Call responsibilities on a rotating schedule with other technicians
- Be available for overtime work assignments when requested
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment that represents a professional company image.
- Keep areas clean and organized on a daily basis
- Display a positive attitude towards Inteliquent and other work groups within the Inteliquent environment.
- NOC Technicians may be responsible for other tasks and responsibilities as assigned or deemed necessary by management.
- May be required to work extended hours due to the 24 hours, 7 days, 365 days a year type of service that Inteliquent offers its customers
- Some required travel related to training, meeting, and service coverage issues
