Bio and Research Information

Chris Kalis is a filmmaker, graphic designer, and musician whose creative work includes motion design, narrative animation, sound design, and music. He is a co-founder of the award-winning and internationally recognized creative studio Plural and the Chicago-based electronic music collective Chandeliers. His music has received praise from The WIRE, Pitchfork, The Quietus, and Chicago Tribune. Chris has collaborated on animated films that have screened at festivals internationally including the Ann Arbor Film Festival, Columbus International Film & Animation Festival, and Pictoplasma Conference and Festival Berlin. His artwork has been exhibited at the Hyde Park Art Center, Co-Prosperity Sphere, Public Works Gallery, Chicago Cultural Center and the Chicago Design Archive. He is currently directing a short animated film and working as assistant producer and graphic designer for the upcoming documentary "God Said Give 'Em Drum Machines: The Story of Detroit Techno".
