Transfer Students

Transfer Students

There's more than one way to become a member of the CDM community. Make a move from a four-year institution or community college to DePaul CDM through our special admission options including transfer admission and dual admission agreements with select community colleges.

Students who currently attend another college/university and plan to complete a baccalaureate degree in DePaul CDM should complete and submit the transfer application (available by clicking on the "apply online" button on the left hand side of this page), the $40 application fee ($25 if you apply online) and official transcripts from every college/university attended. Students who have earned fewer than 30 semester (44 quarter) hours of transferable college work at the time of application submission must additionally provide an official high school transcript and an ACT/SAT score report. In this case, applications are evaluated on high school and college work.

All transfer students applying to DePaul University for undergraduate admission are required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (based on transferable credit). In addition, all students must be in good academic standing at the last college/university attended (good academic standing is determined by one’s eligibility to enroll at the last college/university attended.)

Transfer students are strongly encouraged to file an application as soon as possible during the priority filing periods. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with decisions made as the file becomes complete. Transfer applications will be accepted until the beginning of the term. Applications postmarked during the priority filing periods may have an advantage when space is limited.

Term Priority Filing Periods:
  • Autumn Quarter (January 1-July 15)
  • Winter Quarter (June 1 - November 15)
  • Spring Quarter (October 15 - March 15)
  • Summer Quarter (February 1 - May 1).

More information for transfer students can be found at the DePaul Transfer Center.

Dual Admission

DePaul CDM has entered into agreements with community colleges allowing admission to both programs simultaneously. Students attend the community college for the first part of their college career with the intention of completing the bachelor’s degree at DePaul CDM, in one of CDM's 15 bachelor degree programs. Admission into a dual admission status allows students to make a smooth move to studies at DePaul CDM.

i.c. stars Program

i.c. stars is a community organization founded in 1999 to develop 1,000 community leaders by 2020. Through training in technology, leadership, and business they prepare inner city young people aged 18-27 for careers in IT. In 2006, i.c. stars and DePaul entered into a special partnership whereby qualified i.c. stars alumni receive a grant to help cover textbook expenses. The maximum grant is $1000 per academic year; $300 per term for full time students and $75 per course for prat time students.

Only students enrolled in CDM majors are eligible for the grant. Interested students should apply online for admission and check the button that says i.c. stars partnership. Students must complete a FAFSA form to indicate financial need and provide evidence of graduation from the i.c. stars program.

Students interested in the BA in Computing joint program with the School for New Learning (SNL) should contact Kenn Skorupa at 312-362-8781. Students interested in any other CDM program should contact us at gocdm@depaul.edu. Our office is happy to assist interested students with the admission process.
