Letter from the Dean
As one of the largest colleges of its kind in the nation, DePaul’s College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a wide range of fields across the computing and digital media spectrum. We are dedicated to providing you with the skills and experience you need to succeed. At DePaul CDM, you’ll discover:
- faculty members who put teaching first and take a personal interest in you and your future
- online video recordings of every class session that let you easily update your notes or review for an exam
- state-of-the-art classrooms, but not a single large lecture hall, because we believe in the small-class experience
- 600 computer workstations in more than 20 labs, the latest digital video production equipment for animation and live action film, a production stage, a large theater, and a premiere sound studio
- student and professional organizations devoted to all aspects of computing and digital media
- a host of extracurricular events to help keep you informed about issues and changes in your field of study
If you are looking for opportunity, you’ve selected the right field. The computing and digital media sectors are exciting and dynamic, with technologies evolving on a daily basis. We anticipate those changes with new curriculum and degrees to bring you exciting opportunities every year.
And if you are interested in demonstrating your skills to potential employers, you are in the right place. In 2008, six teams of students competed to design a complete, fully-functioning video game in just 30 hours, with the winner judged by representatives from Raw Thrills, Midway Games, High Voltage Software and Microsoft. CDM’s Security Daemons student group took second place at the Indiana/Illinois Cyber Collegiate Defense Competition in February. Such successes draw recruiters like Google, Sun Systems, and Oracle.
As a part of DePaul University, we strive to embody DePaul's Vincentian tradition of providing accessible higher education to students from all walks of life. We aim to continue CDM's own tradition of academic innovation and enthusiasm for exploring technology's limitless potential.
We are located in downtown Chicago—our students live, work and play in one of the most dynamic and beautiful cities in the world—but you don't have to come to Chicago to experience CDM for yourself. Our Online Learning options allow students to view and participate in courses and complete entire degree programs online—all without having to leave work or home.
