2013-2014 Academic Year
Two post-master's certificates are available to provide opportunities for master's degree holders to sharpen their skills. Students who earned their master's degree from DePaul CDM automatically qualify for a scholarship.
Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance
A student in a certificate program may not use a course already taken as part of an MS program. In particular, students with an MS from CDM may not reuse, for certificate credit, any course already taken for the MS. A faculty advisor can make an appropriate substitution. A student in a certificate program may substitute a maximum of two courses.
A student must earn at least B- in each of the five courses and earn a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 to receive the certificate.
Applicants must hold a master’s degree in any IT field or business subject or a master’s degree in any subject plus three or more years of IT experience. Applicants must submit transcripts from their master's degree and a resume for consideration. Choose non-degree seeking programs on the DePaul Application.
Anyone who has obtained a CDM masters degree and is enrolled in one of the two designated certificate programs is eligible for an alumni scholarship. Students who are currently enrolled in a CDM graduate program but who have not yet earned their degree, become eligible to receive the scholarship the quarter after their master’s degree is officially conferred.
The scholarship is in the amount of $750 per course.
The scholarship is applied only to the required courses in the two post master’s certificate programs. The scholarship may be also applied to course substitutions if approved by the faculty advisor.
The scholarship will be applied to all courses that:
- are included in the approved certificate programs, and
- are taken by eligible students, and
- are graduate courses in CDM, and
- are priced at the standard CDM tuition rate
Any eligible student enrolled in a course in one of the approved certificate programs, will continue to receive the scholarship until they complete the program provided they continue to make satisfactory progress. Any eligible student enrolled in an approved certificate program will receive the scholarship if the scholarship is also offered to eligible new students in that term.
The CDM Alumni Scholarship can only be used to pay tuition and cannot be refunded. If a student has employer tuition reimbursement; the scholarship will be applied and will reduce the student’s taxable benefit from the employer. This means that:
- if the student has some form of DePaul University tuition-restricted award (graduate assistantship tuition waivers, employee/spouse tuition waiver, etc) that covers all tuition expenses, whenever possible, the taxable benefit will be reduced or
- if the student has an external form of tuition-restricted benefit, whenever possible, the taxable benefit will be reduced.
