Summary

This course focuses on the following areas: design reuse vs. code reuse, Object-Oriented programming languages, UML notations, Iterative Development Processes, Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Design Patterns, and Testing Methodology. The course focuses on principles, concepts, design strategies, processes, and best practices that can be implemented with any OO programming language; though, code examples that illustrate key concepts will be provided in Java.

Design Patterns, by Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson and John Vlissides, published by Addison-Wesley, first edition, 1995.


Grading

Homeworks: 30%, Midterm (8/05/02): 30%, Final exam (8/21/02): 40%


Prerequisites

CSC 416 Foundations of Computer Science II, and CSC224, or CSC 416 Foundations of Computer Science, CSC211 and CSC212.

Online Course Evaluations

Since 100% participation is our goal, students are sent periodic reminders over three weeks. Students do not receive reminders once they complete the evaluation. Students complete the evaluation online in CampusConnect.
