DC 320 Editing II
Summary
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This class concentrates on AVID Media Composer as an editing tool. Student learn the interface and editing tools of Media Composer 7, including system settings, audio/video settings, capture, media management, picture editing, sound editing, multiple video tracks, titles, and final exporting to DVD. Students practice telling stories through editing by doing various projects. COURSE OBJECTIVES: To develop understanding of the more complex editing processes and gain advanced editorial skills. Students will edit sequences together using nonlinear software. The following topics will be covered: editing theory, nonlinear editing theory and practice, principals of composition, pacing and story development as they relate to the edit, critical analysis of the feature films and documentaries.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: An external Firewire or USB 2.0 hard drive, find these at Staples, Best Buy, etc. 4 DVDs (DVD-R)
Grading
1st Project - 20%; 2nd Project - 20%; 3rd Project - 20%; 4th project - 20%.

separate from the student’s identity. Since 100% participation is our goal, students are sent periodic reminders over three weeks. Students do not receive reminders once they complete the evaluation.
