Summary

An introduction to the concept and techniques of project management for a broad range of systems, including Web-based application development. Topics include resource management, organizational factors, project manager responsibilities, team building, and risk management. Tools and techniques for project estimating and scheduling will be presented. Case study and group projects. Goals of the course are:

To learn how to manage IT project
A better understanding of issues that could make a project succeed or fail
To learn about managing the software development process
To learn about the responsibilities of project managers
To apply project management concepts by working in a group as team leader or active team member

Online Course Evaluations

Evaluations are a way for students to provide valuable feedback regarding their instructor and the course. They are a requirement of the course and are key to continue to provide you with the highest quality of teaching. The evaluations are anonymous; the instructor and administration do not track who entered what responses. A program is used to check if the student completed the evaluations, but the evaluation is completely separate from the student’s identity. Since 100% participation is our goal, students are sent periodic reminders over three weeks. Students do not receive reminders once they complete the evaluation. Students complete the evaluation online in CampusConnect.
