SCWR 123: Adaptation: The Cinematic Recrafting of Meaning

This course explores contemporary cinematic adaptations of texts and how these recent re-workings in film allow for a critical analysis of the culture in which they are created, promoted and received. What issues have an impact upon the borrowing and reinterpreting of previous works? How, when, and where can we identify such borrowing and reinterpretations in multiple contemporary iterations of the same narratives?

SCWR 100 or SCWR 101 is a prerequisite for this class.
