Independent Study
Independent Study
Independent Study Courses give students an opportunity to pursue a course of study not commonly offered by DePaul CDM.
Many courses require that students submit an
Independent Study Form to the instructor to gain consent for adding the course.
At the undergraduate level, the form is mainly required for courses numbered 399. These courses are titled "Independent Study" and require that the student and instructor work together independently on a specific topic or project. Undergraduate juniors or seniors should contact their faculty advisors if they are interested in pursuing an independent study.
At the graduate level, the form is required for many different courses. Similar to the undergraduate independent study (399), most graduate programs have a course number 596 or 599 which serves the same purpose. Additionally, some graduate programs offer research seminars or projects courses which require the use of the independent study form.
Independent study forms should be submitted to the instructor of the course for processing.
