Cloud Computing Infrastructure and Operations Program

Overview
A 6-week program in the architectures, infrastructure, and operations of Cloud Computing. The program provides specialized knowledge in the new services provisioning paradigm of Cloud Computing. The program focuses on the proper architectural design and implementation of dynamic Cloud infrastructures; multi-vendor architectures; globally-responsive architectures; scalability and elasticity; Cloud infrastructure analytics tools and techniques; eventual consistency and alternative persistent storage; security and data protection issues; and case studies.

Admissions requirements: The program is intended for IT professionals pursuing Cloud solution architect or Cloud operations manager roles, or for individuals currently supporting a Cloud platform and who want to enhance their skills. Applicants should have either completed DePaul's Cloud Computing Fundamentals Program or have equivalent experience. Basic knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS is a requirement. Experience with Amazon EC2TM is a plus.

Dates & Location: Winter Quarter 2012
The next session of this program will be scheduld for winter quarter beginning in January 2012. Classes meet one evening per week at DePaul University's Loop Campus at 243 South Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL.

DePaul University reserves the right to cancel any program before its first scheduled meeting.

Course Credit:
The Cloud Computing Infrastructure and Operations Program is an accredited course of DePaul University, which follows the quarter system (as opposed to the semester system).

Course #: IPD 354
Credit hours: 2.5 undergraduate

The credit hours are awarded to those who successfully complete the program's academic requirements. Course requirements include reading, labs, individual projects and a team project.

Course credit and final grade information will be available through the Institute for Professional office upon the program's completion, and will be reflected on the university's system at the end of the university's regular academic quarter.

Textbooks:
Reading materials for certificate programs consist of textbooks and supplementary handouts. Textbook readings are considered preparatory in nature and are typically assigned prior to lectures; supplementary handouts are frequently distributed in class to provide additional information.

Fees: Winter Quarter 2012
Tuition fee: $1,125.00
Application fee: $40.00 (non-refundable)

Textbooks are a separate purchase to be made by students.

Full payment of tuition must be received by the Institute for Professional Development office before the start of the program. The tuition fee for this program is not included in the university's tuition package for full-time undergraduate students. The university's refund policy allows a return of 100% of tuition (minus a separate $25 registration fee) if the student drops the Cloud Computing Infrastructure and Operations Program within the first week of the program.

Fees are payable by check made out to DePaul University, or by credit card. For credit card payment, print out and complete the Payment by Credit Card Form.

Application & Registration Procedure
The first step is to apply for admission using the Institute for Professional Development's online application; or, to apply via fax, mail, or in person, print out and complete the Application Form. Upon admission, the Institute office will contact the prospective student with registration information and instructions.
