Externship FAQ for Students

What if I am interested in more than one opportunity?

You are encouraged to apply for several positions as you may not get your first choice. Depending on alumni and student participation, you may be able to participate in more than one experience.


What will be discussed at the information session?


You will get prepared for the externship experience including understanding what is expected of you and what you can expect to gain from the alumni.


Is the information session mandatory?


Yes. You must attend the information session in order to participate in the externship.


How are students assigned to the externships?


Alumni will review the candidates' applications and statements of interest and determine the best fit. You should write a well thought-out statement of interest in your application. The statement should be 250 words or more and should discuss the career-related goals you have for the externship and what benefits you expect to gain from this experience.


What if I am not selected?


Students can apply to a maximum of three externships. You are encouraged to apply for three positions as you may not get your first choice. Depending on alumni and student participation, you may be able to participate in more than one experience.
