Design Talks welcomes Industrial Designer Jasmine Kent: Taking Up Space
About this Event
TALK
As a designer, I've found that you always have to prove your worth. As a black designer, I've found you have to do that twice as much. As a mother, I've found you have to do it three times as much. And as an ally, I've found that it never stops. We all have intersectional identities, obstacles, and people need our help to be uplifted and heard. My talk is centered around how these burdens can become building blocks to our identities as designers. My talk highlights my journey and how I extended each of my identities to fill the space I was in, leaving it differently than I came. I hope when we finish our conversation, that you are able to acknowledge and honor all of your identities, like branches of a tree - acknowledge them, water them, and bloom so that every space you touch is filled with the scent of your life.
