Summary

The goal of this course is to enable students to create images that purposefully, meaningfully and emotionally engage their audience with an emphasis on lighting and camera movement. Students will learn a variety of lighting techniques - night and beauty lighting, sheen and incident lighting, studio and field lighting. Chapman and doorway dollies, handheld rigs and miscellaneous camera rigs will be utilized in camera operating exercises. In addition, students will learn basic set electrical breakdown, grip equipment and procedures to use them safely and effectively. This is a hands-on class. Students are expected to operate both camera and lighting equipment.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Enable students to safely utilize lighting and camera moving equipment to produce meaningful and effectively engaging images.


ADDITIONAL REQUIRED SUPPLIES:

A pair of leather work gloves - recommend Set gear from Filmtools.com. An 8" adjustable crescent wrench. Note: working on the Stage LL107 requires no open toe shoes.

Online Course Evaluations

Evaluations are a way for students to provide valuable feedback regarding their instructor and the course. A program is used to check if the student completed the evaluations, but the evaluation is completely separate from the student’s identity. Since 100% participation is our goal, students are sent periodic reminders over three weeks. Students do not receive reminders once they complete the evaluation. Students complete the evaluation online in CampusConnect.
