TDC 512 Cellular and Wireless Telecommunications
Summary
To obtain a comprehensive understanding of cellular system theory, design, management and operations.
The following wireless material will be covered: RF technologies, antenna technologies, (1G) cellular systems, (2G) digital wireless (GSM, CDMA), 3G technology, HSPA technology, 4G / LTE technology, personal communication services (PCS), microwave radio systems, mobile data technologies and mobile applications.

Industry articles and/or supporting technical documentation are available for supplemental reading. The handouts are available on the Distance Learning (D2L) web site for downloading (see #2 below). It is to every student?s advantage to download and read the supplemental handouts.
Grading
Course Evaluation:
30 % (3) Homework Assignments (10% each)
NOTE: Homework assignments that are submitted after the designated due date will be subject to a 10 % grading penalty. If Homework #3 is submitted without the reference article or the URL for same (when applicable, i.e. for DL Students) 10 points will automatically be deducted from the final homework grade.
30 % Midterm Examination
40 % Final Examination
* NOTE: DL students based in Chicago have the option of taking exams in-class if classroom space allows. br>
The standard DePaul grading scale applies.

INCOMPLETES
Many incomplete grades are requested, and few are granted.An incomplete grade is given only for an exceptional reason for not completing the course.Any such reason must be fully documented before an incomplete grade can be given.An incomplete request must be approved by the Dean of the School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems.In particular, an incomplete grade is not given for any of the following reasons:
*The company wont pay for the course if I get a(n) ___.
*My grade point average will suffer if I get an___.
*Its past the drop date.Ill have to pay for the course if I withdraw now.

Prerequisites
The prerequisite for this course is TDC 464, Voice Communication Networks. It is assumed that students have completed this course prior to registering for TDC 512.
Web Access
All students will log into the same system to access course materials. Both in-class and distance learning (DL) sections will log in at www.D2L.depaul.edu.
Registration
You must be registered for any class you attend at DePaul University. If your name is not on the preprinted roster, you must submit proof of registration to your instructor within the first two weeks of the quarter. Proof of registration is one of the following documents:

separate from the student’s identity. Since 100% participation is our goal, students are sent periodic reminders over three weeks. Students do not receive reminders once they complete the evaluation.
