Summary

Fundamentals and techniques of developing concurrent object-oriented applications. Concepts covered include: threads, (weak) memory models, synchronization and object locking, thread blocking and deadlock, safety and liveness, state-dependent action, concurrency control, streams, task creation and management frameworks.

Grading

Final Exam: 40% Assignments/Programs: 60%

Weekly assignments/programs need to be turned in on prescribed time. NO late assignments will be accepted. There will be NO extra credit assignments. ALL assignments are mandatory.  

Exam will be conducted online.  No mandatory attendance to any lecture.  Hopefully students of all sections will be able to participate in zoom lectures.

Online Course Evaluations

A program is used to check if the student completed the evaluations, but the evaluation is completely separate from the student’s identity. Since 100% participation is our goal, students are sent periodic reminders over three weeks. Students do not receive reminders once they complete the evaluation. Students complete the evaluation online in CampusConnect.
