Summary of course
DC 410 examines the function of a movie production company, primarily focusing on story genesis. The methods for identifying and aquiring the rights to intellectual properties and the developing of these properties into finished films will be examined.

The class will study tthe development process including optioning material, packaging talent, and raising money.

The class will also examine the current state of the film industry through discussion of industry current event articles.

Course objectives:

This course is designed to introduce students to the role of Creative Producer and the requirements for a "Produced by" credit, the methods for creating a clear chain of title, and the types of financing and distribution commonly found in the motion picture industry today.

410 Students will also examine how the role of producer has evolved in the "modern" era.

Online Course Evaluations
