CSEC 489: Advanced Cyber Attack Responses and Defenses

Students in this advanced, lab-based course will address real-world cybersecurity challenges by working in teams to defend critical services within a simulated hostile environment. They will conduct in-depth threat modeling to identify high-value assets and configure essential business services. Building on these foundations, students will develop their purple team skills, gaining insights into both the attack techniques used by adversaries and the defenses needed to counter them. The course emphasizes analysis of logs, telemetry, and other artifacts to detect and respond to compromises, with a focus on containing and eliminating threats efficiently.

CSEC 440 and CSEC 418 are prerequisites for this class.
