Mahdi obtained his Ph.D. in computer engineering from Washington State University. Before Joining DePaul University, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern University, managing HABits Lab in the preventive medicine department and teaching Wireless and Mobile Health (mHealth) course in computer science. Over the past eight years, Mahdi has focused on developing embedded systems and machine learning models capable of detecting and predicting human behavior in real-time, namely smoking, physical activity, eating, and drinking. Mahdi builds technology to improve our understanding of lifestyle habits to make people’s lives easier and their health better. He utilizes his technical expertise to create novel wearable devices for health applications.
