Summary

This course is to give you further exploration into technical aspects of lighting, digital storage,
digital video cameras in general and High Definition camera types in particular, (compression
schemes, exposure latitude, optics and depth of field).
Cameras used in the class will be the JVC GY HM-700, Canon 7D and, to some degree, the RED
camera. Students should familiarize themselves with the cameras using supplied video?s and
manuals on COLWeb class site. In addition, extensive use of light meters and use of waveform
monitors will be explored. The class is almost as much about post as it is about cameras and
lighting. NOTE THAT SOME READINGS AND VIDEO FOR THE CLASS ARE ON-LINE NOT ON
COL WEB FOR ON LINE VIEWING. It is expected you review these BEFORE class as per
syllabus.

Online Course Evaluations

Evaluations are a way for students to provide valuable feedback regarding their instructor and the course. They are a requirement of the course and are key to continue to provide you with the highest quality of teaching. The evaluations are anonymous; the instructor and administration do not track who entered what responses. A program is used to check if the student completed the evaluations, but the evaluation is completely separate from the student’s identity. Since 100% participation is our goal, students are sent periodic reminders over three weeks. Students do not receive reminders once they complete the evaluation. Students complete the evaluation online in CampusConnect.
