Bio and Research Information

Chris Kalis is a filmmaker, graphic designer, and musician whose creative work includes motion design, narrative animation, sound design, music, and interactive media. He is a co-founder of the award-winning and internationally recognized creative studio Plural and the Chicago-based electronic music collective Chandeliers. His music has received praise from The WIRE, Pitchfork, The Quietus, and Chicago Tribune. Chris has collaborated with Nolan J. Downs on two films that have screened at festivals nationally and internationally including the Ann Arbor Film Festival, Columbus International Film & Animation Festival, and Pictoplasma Conference and Festival Berlin. Chris has worked as a music director, composer, and sound designer for commissions from MTV International, a live score to Marcell Jankovics' Fehérlófia, a touring performance by Hubbard Street Dance, and the feature film "ORDERS." Chris has exhibited at the Hyde Park Art Center, Co-Prosperity Sphere, Public Works Gallery, and his work are in the Chicago Design Archive. He is currently working on writing and directing an animated short film.
