Priya Deshpande is an Adjunct Faculty and a Ph.D. candidate in the College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) at DePaul University. Her area of specialization is Computer Science with a focus in database systems. Her research interests encompass Databases, Big Data, and Computer-aided diagnosis. Priya’s previous research addressed Big data analytics and load balancing in cloud computing. Her current research focuses on medical informatics in the radiology domain. She integrates public radiology data sources and medical ontologies. As a part of this project she designed a multimodal IRIS – Integrated radiology Image Search engine. She incorporates natural language processing and machine learning techniques to help radiologists find supplemental reference information and improve diagnostic accuracy.
Prior coming to DePaul University, Priya was working as an Assistant Professor at the University of Pune, India (2005-2016). She taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate computer science courses, including: Database Management Systems, Advanced Database Management Systems, Object Oriented Modeling and Design, Software Architecture, Service Oriented Architecture, Information Retrieval, Big Data Analytics, and Software Testing and Quality Assurance.
