Emily Schumann

Bio and Research Information

Emily Schumann is an award-winning independent writer/director/producer. She holds an MFA in Film and Television Directing from DePaul University, and a BA in Art and Creative Writing from Lycoming College. Her short films ELEPHANT HIDE and THE GIVER are currently beginning their festival runs, and she has garnered awards for Best Director for her short film POEMS FOR SALE at the Cannes World Film Festival, and several nominations for her experimental short film PERCEPTION and narrative short film FUNERAL THEORY. She is the founder of Honeybee Film Productions, with work that strives to explore the fundamentals of what it means to be human, and creates work with the intention of inspiring, embracing hope, and fostering joy. Emily is currently working on several feature film scripts and settling into life in Highland Park, Illinois with her partner Zac, her rescue dog Sadie, and her cat McKinley.
