    JIC Speaker Series: Innovating Museum Education for the Future with Miranda Kerr 

    Join us on March 6th at 5:00pm for our final speaker series event of the quarter, featuring the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum's Head of Learning Innovation, Miranda Kerr. Miranda will talk about her experience developing innovative digital learning and science education programs for Chicago-area museums and classrooms. The talk will be moderated by Leanne Wagner, School of Design faculty and Director of PUSH Studio.

    Light fare will be provided. If the event is sold out, there will be limited availability at the door.

    Miranda Kerr is the Head of Learning Innovation at the Chicago Academy of Sciences/Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, whose mission is to create a positive relationship between people and nature. She is passionate about environmental education, museum-based learning, and innovative approaches to learning. She has over 20 years of experience developing learner-centered programs for diverse audiences in museums, classrooms, and online. Prior to joining the Nature Museum, Miranda spent 10 years at Shedd Aquarium, serving as the Manager of Digital Learning, and 3 years running her own consulting business, Miranda Kerr Consulting LLC, creating digital learning and science education experiences for organizations such as the National Park Service, Argonne National Labs, and Current. Miranda lives in Chicago with her husband and two kids, and enjoys hiking, reading, and her native plant garden.

    To kick off the Big Shoulders International Student Film Festival, join us for a screening and conversation with filmmmaker Joe Swanberg.

    Joe is an independent filmmaker considered a major figure in the mumblecore movement. Often using micro-budgets, his filmography includes Drinking Buddies, Happy Christmas, Win it All, and he is a frequent collaborator of Greta Gerwig's. He also created, wrote and directed the Netflix original comedy-drama anthology series Easy.

    One part puzzle-platformer and one part eco-sim, Floodfriend features a lost human hiker and a light-sensitive monster that are forced to work together in order to navigate a sprawling system of caves.

    Robin Van Bree - Hominoid

    Hominoid is a game about stories, and the accumulation of words, images, and choices. Brainworms, metaphors, intrusive thoughts - all only partially true, yet more real than what actually happened.
